OIR Largs is an organisation for the over-50's. Membership is around 600, drawn mostly from Largs, Skelmorlie, Wemyss Bay, Fairlie and West Kilbride. It was founded in 1987.
The organisation exists to encourage and facilitate interesting activities for those who have retired, or who may be thinking about it. Most activity groups depend on the initiative, skills and voluntary contributions of individual members. Members are encouraged to suggest and help to promote additions to the list of activity groups.
The Annual Subscription for members is £12 and runs from 1st August.
OIR Largs is a Charity registered in Scotland, No. SC012153
A general meeting to which all members are invited is held on the first Wednesday of each month (September - June) in the Dunn Memorial Hall, St. John's Church, at 2.00pm.
There is usually a guest speaker or some other form of entertainment, followed by the chance to have a cup of tea or coffee meet and chat with other members. In addition announcements are made about outings, holidays, theatres, concerts and other group activities. See the meeting programme for 2011 - 2012 here. The monthly meeting in June includes the Annual General Meeting.
