Location of Meeting: George Hotel or on field excursions
Day and Time: Once a month during the winter, on the second Tuesday from 2-4pm
Brief Description:
We are a group of over 20 people, keen to learn about local geology, and to go on excursions to the sites of Ayrshire, Inverclyde, Glasgow and the islands of the Firth of Clyde which are of geological interest. We are also interested in learning about the geology of the world. We are fortunate to have a geologist in our group who gives us presentations and helps to explain what we see on our excursions.
During the spring, summer and autumn we go on excursions, usually one a month, to look at geology in the field. We are very fortunate to live in an area surrounded by interesting geological sites which are well documented. We usually end up in a pub or café and blether about what we have seen.
The Group Photo shows us sitting on the Stromatolite beds at Portachur Point, Great Cumbrae.
