Group Leader: Catherine Maguire
Contact: c.maguire7@yahoo.co.uk
Location of Meeting: Brisbane Evangelical Church Hall, School Street
Day and Time: First and third Thursday of each month between 2pm and 4pm
Brief Description:
We are a lively, friendly and enthusiastic group and average about 17 to 20 people at each meeting.
We have no tutor/teacher and it falls to our talented members to volunteer to deliver a talk, some as short as 5 mins, others longer. There is no pressure on anyone to give a talk.
So far this year we have been learning about Life in Ayrshire at the time of Burns, Railways, the Scottish Martyrs, Entertainment in the 16th to 18th centuries, the town of Johnstone, the Scottish Diaspora, the development of medicine and JP Coats of Paisley. Still to come we have Canals, the town of Paisley, the Vikings, the Bronze Age and Shetland and Harris. Cost per session is £2.50.
If possible we will use films, slides or photographs to enhance our talks.
We are now busy planning our summer outing in June.
