Groups
Most of our Groups have now finished for the Summer Holidays so the information shown relates to earlier in this year. The Activity Leaflet contains the restart date for each Group: please download a copy of the Activity Leaflet from this bottom of this page, or pick one up in the Office.
OIR Largs offers opportunities to experience varied activities while making new friends along the way. These range from learning languages, participating in sport or even discovering a hidden musical talent. There are many more available and these can be found in the six category sections below; please have a browse to see if any take your fancy.
If you would like further information on any of these please contact the Group Leader of the specific activity or drop into the OIR Office for a friendly chat.
Art and Chat
The Art and Chat group get together to paint using oils, acrylics, watercolours and inks, to draw using pastels, pencils and crayons and to chat. All members work at their own pace with whichever medium they feel most comfortable. No formal tuition is given but advice and constructive criticism is offered by experienced members when requested. The cost of each session is £3.50.
Calligraphy
This course is an exploration of letter forms and decorative texts. Calligraphy is taught as a decorative art form. Although this is not specifically a handwriting course, as members become familiar with writing implements, inks and papers, they will inevitably become more aware of their own writing.
Yarn Matters
We are a group of retired ladies who meet to learn new skills as well as developing and improving our established ones. Indeed we are always open to new ideas and innovations. Anything to do with yarn is our interest, but we’ve not yet tried out spinning or weaving, yet!
