Groups
Most of our Groups have now finished for the Summer Holidays so the information shown relates to earlier in this year. The Activity Leaflet contains the restart date for each Group: please download a copy of the Activity Leaflet from this bottom of this page, or pick one up in the Office.
OIR Largs offers opportunities to experience varied activities while making new friends along the way. These range from learning languages, participating in sport or even discovering a hidden musical talent. There are many more available and these can be found in the six category sections below; please have a browse to see if any take your fancy.
If you would like further information on any of these please contact the Group Leader of the specific activity or drop into the OIR Office for a friendly chat.
Carpet Bowls
This is a weekly activity. Please contact the Group Leader for more information.
Easy Exercise
Our tutor, Douglas, who conducts the class, is the proprietor of the studio and a trained martial arts instructor. We start with a warm up then use various pieces of kit to exert our flagging muscles to help prepare us ready for the week ahead.
Line Dancing
We are fun group led by dance instructor Andrea Clark and no line dancing experience is necessary.
Scottish Country Dancing
Scottish Country Dancing is part of our heritage, originally danced to fiddle music. Over the years many more instruments have been added and your toes start tapping to the rich beat.
Table Tennis
The group meet weekly all year round and is well attended and caters for a wide range of abilities.
Tea Dances
We are a relaxed group who all enjoy a sociable afternoon dancing with an interval for tea and coffee. Our dancing consists of Ballroom, Sequence, Old time and Scottish. We also hold dinner dances at Christmas and Easter and theme dances for Robert Burns, Valentines Day, Pancake Day, St. Patricks Day, Halloween and St Andrews Day to add to the fun.
Zumba Gold
Zumba Gold is suitable for the members of the OIR. It is a fun hour and we have a class leader, Ursula, who tries to keep us right.
